| Benefits for the Form Originator |
|
OmniForm Premium eliminates preprinted paper forms, physical storage, costly distribution and the discarding of obsolete forms. This is a huge savings. Digital forms, by design, are stored locally on a PC or on a network server making them easy to access and distribute.
When distributing digital forms, only OmniForm Premium lets you do so via email or network posting in all widely accepted e-form formats, including OFM (OmniForm), HTML & DHTML, intelligent PDF, RTF (Microsoft Word), and OmniForm Mailable Filler. No more time wasted tracking down people and mailing out forms. Having all of these formats at your disposal ensures ease-of-use and widespread compliance.
Saving in HTML enables you to post digital forms to your web site for convenient, 24/7 access with any popular browser. Another option is one-click posting of your digital forms to ScanSoft's SSL-based eOmniForm.com service, up to 5 forms included free with OmniForm Premium for one year. Additional form hosting available separately.

- Saving as an OmniForm Form
OFM is the most versatile and intelligent digital form format. OFM forms can link to a User Profile that allows previously recorded user information to be automatically filled. This results in, on an average, a 60% increase in speed over hand filling. Built-in form intelligence like calculations can save time where totals, discounts, and tax calculations can all be automatic increasing confidence that forms are filled correctly and completely. Anyone filling an OFM form can save it, once filled, for future reference with the ability to search, edit, and export the form data to any ODBC-compliant database. OFM allows form recipients to attach files like photos, receipts, or any additional supporting data directly to a form record. OFM also supports digital signatures, which enable digital forms that previously needed to be printed out and signed to be signed digitally with PKI or Entrust authentication.
- Saving to OmniForm Mailable Filler
The OmniForm Mailable Filler shares many capabilities with its more intelligent OFM counterpart, making it perfect for sending to clients, vendors and others outside of your organization without access to the full power of an OmniForm Filler/Data Manager. The OmniForm Mailable Filler is both an executable file and an HTML file, which enables OmniForm forms to be distributed (via email or diskette, for example) with a run-time Filler attached. Saving as an HTML file enables this feature to work with email systems that do not allow “.exe” programs.
- Publish Forms on the Web
eOmniForm.com, ScanSoft's hassle-free, SSL-based Internet forms hosting service, enables you to publish forms on the web with a click of a button - without any knowledge of HTML, DHTML or CGI Scripts required. Anyone with a web browser can then access, fill out, and submit the form online. Now your form recipients can have 24/7 access to your forms.
- Saving to PDF
OmniForm automatically creates a "fillable" PDF form when we save to PDF. This means that Form Marks are automatically added so that the form can be filled out in Acrobat Reader. This is an important feature, as it eliminates the painstaking process of manually inserting a Form Mark for each fillable field on PDF forms - a process that is required by Adobe Exchange. A new feature in OmniForm 5.0 also automatically carries over the calculations, field validations and electronic signature fields. No JavaScript is necessary; OmniForm adds it automatically.
- Saving as RTF (Microsoft Word)
As with the OmniForm format, this form can be saved to a hard disk or an NT network. Saving to RTF allows Microsoft Word users to open the form in Word and fill it out without needing to have OmniForm or OmniForm Filler on their computers. *However, the trade-off is the loss of built-in intelligence and database connectivity.
- Saving to Dynamic HTML and Traditional HTML
Before saving forms to DHTML or HTML, we recommend previewing how the form will look in various, locally installed versions of Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. OmniForm provides the Preview in Browser feature to allow you to do this. As a side note, Internet Explorer and Navigator display the same HTML code differently, and Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater produces better results with OmniForm.
